COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TEMPLATE, DRAFTING: MAP SYMBOL,
FOR PLASTIC SCRIBING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description (CID) for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE.
1.1 Abstract. This commercial item description covers a transparent, plastic, drafting template.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Description. The template shall contain cut outs to facilitate consistency in the scribing of symbols on film for military maps. The template symbols shall be as illustrated in figure 1.
2.1.1 Dimensions. The template shall be 6.12 ± .12 x 2.50 ± .12 inches with a thickness not greater than 0.015 inches.
2.1.2 Light transmittance. The template shall be translucent to a minimum of 30 percent of white light incident to it.
2.2 Material. The template shall be made of rigid polyvinyl chloride, an acetate, acrylic, or similar material. The template shall have a smooth finish free from surface imperfections, scratches, tool marks, or burrs.
2.3 Identification marking. The template as a minimum shall be marked with the manufacturer’s identification and part number. The data shall be prominent and legible, but not interfere with the use of the template.
3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
3.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
