COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION PLOTTER, DIGITAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item
Description (CID) for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE.
1.1 Abstract. This CID covers a multi-color, digital plotter capable of handling single sheet or roll media, with transport/storage case. This digital plotter will be used to create Computer- Assisted Design (CAD) system engineering drawings.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Plotter. The plotter shall operate in a free-standing mode, but may be disassembled for transport.
2.1.1 Dimensions. The plotter overall height (free-standing) shall not exceed 122.00 cm (48.00 in). The overall width shall not exceed 140.00 cm (55.00 in), and the overall depth shall not exceed 61.00 cm (24.00 in).
2.1.2 Weight. The plotter weight shall not exceed 68.00 kg (149.9 lbs).
2.2 Media. The plotter shall be capable of handling various media types, such as film, vellum, or paper, in single sheet or roll, sizes A3 to A0, as defined by ASME Y14.1.
2.3 Data reception. The plotter shall receive data at the following selectable baud rates: 300,
600, 1200, 2400, 4800, or 9600. A minimum 6K byte memory data buffer shall be provided.
2.4 Pens and holder. When pens are used, the plotter shall be capable of using a variety of commercially available plotting pens providing a wide range of colors and line weights. Pen holders or carousels shall be provided, allowing automatic pick-up, use, and return of pens to a ready location. The holder or carousel shall hold a minimum of 8 pens at one time.
