Each of two pockets shall have a width and depth of not less than 1.125 inches to accommodate the two range pole sections snugly, but without binding. The webbing shall be medium weight hard texture, width .75 inch shall be used as binding around all edges, including the pocket opening the case. The cotton duck webbing shall be dyed light green and treated for mildew resistance.
Identification marking. The pole and case shall be identified with the manufacturer’s identification.
Treatment and painting. The pole shall be treated and painted. The finish coat shall be as follows: The upper 12 inches of the pole shall be painted red or orange and the remainder shall be painted in alternating white and red or orange horizontal bands 12 inches long, except that the point at the lower end shall be painted black. The edges of the ring shall be normal to the axis of the pole.
Materials: Material shall be as specified herein.
Metal. The metal shall be corrosion resistant or coated to be made corrosion resistant.
Workmanship. All parts, components, and assemblies of the range pole shall be clean and free from sand, dirt, fins, pits, sprues, scale, flux, and other harmful extraneous material.
Certification of commercial item. The contractor shall furnish certification for Government approval that the product offered to the Government meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product as the manufacturer’s current product offered by the contractor in the commercial marketplace for at least one year preceding the solicitation. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met.
If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
Quality assurance: The range pole shall be examined for the following defects. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
