3.2 Configuration. The levels shall be constructed in accordance with the following:
a. Type I. The tubular body shall be non-telescoping, with no magnification of the field of view. The overall length of the level shall not be greater than 6.5 inches.
b. Type II. The tubular body shall telescope, to afford a 2X magnification of the field of view. With the telescoping portion fully retracted, the overall length of the level shall not be greater than 6.5 inches.
3.3 Level indicator. The instrument level indicator shall be accurate to within a ±0.25 percent gradient from horizontal and shall maintain this accuracy in normal use, handling, and storage for the life of the instrument.
3.4 Carrying case. A carrying case, to fit and protect the instrument, shall be provided with each level. The case shall have a securable closure and a loop(s) compatible with a belt 3.00 inches wide. The carrying case shall be fungus resistant.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
4.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
5.1 Market acceptability. The levels offered shall be the latest version of the standard product of the supplier, that has been used in the field for at least one year by commercial organizations.
5.2 Product conformance. The levels offered shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the manufacture's drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
5.3 Examination. The levels shall be examined for compliance with requirements specified in Section 2. Each element of inspection shall encompass all examinations of performance and dimensional requirements. Failure to comply with any specified requirement, or the presence of one or more defects lessening required capabilities, shall constitute cause for rejection.
6. PACKAGING.
6.1 Packaging. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order
(see 7.2)
7. NOTES
7.1 Intended use. The levels are intended to be used to determine approximate differences in elevation, between points a short distance apart.
