viewing stage. Provisions shall be made for both coarse and fine movement of the optical device along the Z axis for manually focusing the optics.
Electrical requirements. The table shall operate from a 120 volt, 60 hertz, single phase, alternating current electrical power source and shall draw not more than 9 amperes. A 10-foot long, rubber-covered, 3-wire, grounding type electrical power cord terminated with a 3-prong male rubber plug shall be provided for connecting the table to the electrical power source. The table shall be provided with one main power on/off switch control of all table electrical circuits. The lamps serving as light sources shall be ruggedized and mounted in a manner to withstand handling and transport of the table. The light sources shall be controlled by a single on/off switch and a single potentiometer for control of the viewing surface illumination level. All switches and controls shall be located so as to be readily accessible to the operator.
Finish. The interior of the lamp housing shall be given a durable white finish. The frame and other untreated exposed metal surfaces shall be given a durable light green finish.
Workmanship. The external surfaces of the table shall be free of burrs, sharp edges and corners except where sharp edges or corners are essential or where they will not cause injury to operating or maintenance personnel.
Certification of commercial item. The contractor shall furnish certification for Government approval that the product offered to the Government meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product as the manufacturer’s current product offered by the contractor in the commercial marketplace for at least one year preceding the solicitation. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard No. 376, and all other requirements of this document are met.
If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
