Configuration. The type I head shall be one piece and shall be rigidly secured at right angles to the blade. The maximum perpendicularly between the head and the blade shall be 90 degrees + 15 minutes. Type II shall be provided with the fixed head and an adjustable head attached to opposite sides of the end of the blade. Both types shall conform to the design used in commercial practice.
Wood. The wood shall be of a hardwood species most suitable for the respective parts and shall be thoroughly seasoned, straight grained, free from blemishes, knots and other defects.
Plastic. Plastic material shall be methacrylate, vinyl chloride, or cellulose acetate butyrate.
Metal. Metal parts shall be fabricated of corrosion-resistant material or be treated to resist corrosion.
Surfaces. All surfaces shall have a smooth and uniform finish; plastic shall be polished; wood surfaces shall have a suitable protective coating with a dull finish.
The hole, 12.7 + millimeters in diameter, shall be placed in the blade neat the free end.
The free ends of hardwood blades shall be reinforced by inserted strips or bridges.
Workmanship. The T-square shall have no defects which may impair its durability, appearance or serviceability.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
Responsibility for inspection and tests. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein.
Sampling. Sampling for visual inspection and testing shall be in accordance with the provisions of MIL-STD-105. Unless otherwise specified, Inspection Level II with AQL 2.5 percent defective for visual inspection and level S-2, AQL 1.5 percent defective for testing shall apply.
Inspection. Samples selected in accordance with the requirements herein shall be visually inspected to verify conformance to dimensional and workmanship requirements of the CID. Any departure from specified requirements may be grounds for rejection.
