MIL-PRF-52955D
and maintain serial communications with the exception of mating the interface electrical
connectors.
3.4.3.1.2 Time synchronization. IPADS shall synchronize date and time of day to that
contained in a FSS-SS-0011-ICD Time Message from the host system to within two seconds.
3.4.3.2 Reprogramming interface(s). IPADS shall interface to a Maintenance Support
Device (MSD) or equivalent to reprogram all Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop
Replaceable Units (SRUs), which utilize software or firmware. Reprogramming cables shall be
provided for those reprogramming devices specified in acquisition documents (6.2).
3.4.3.3 Cryptographic key loading interface. The IPADS shall accept and utilize valid
GPS cryptographic keys provided by an AN/CYZ-10 Data Transfer Device (DTD) and an
AN/PYQ-10(C) Simple Key Loader (SKL) through a standard cryptofill cable.
3.4.3.3.1 Key fill connector. IPADS shall have a key fill connector that mates with a cable
having a MIL-DTL-55116/2 connector. The key fill connector shall be accessible for connection
to DTD and SKL key loading devices with IPADS installed in the host vehicle. Connector pin
designations are specified below.
Pin
Function
A
Ground
B
TIA-232 Flow control out (output from GPS receiver to key loading device)
C
TIA-232 Receive (input to GPS receiver from key loading device)
D
TIA-232 Transmit (output from GPS receiver to key loading device
E
TIA-232 Flow control input (input to GPS receiver from key loading device)
3.4.3.4 GPS initialization interface. IPADS shall accept transfer of position, ephemeris,
and precision timing data from a Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR) to initialize the
internal GPS receiver for direct Y-code acquisition.
3.4.3.4.1 Serial data interface. The GPS initialization interface shall have a TIA-232
compatible serial data port.
3.4.3.4.2 Message protocol. The initialization interface message and data protocols shall
conform to IS-GPS-153D.
3.4.3.4.3 Timing pulse input. The initialization interface shall accept one pulse per second
(1 PPS) timing pulses meeting the electrical requirements of the IS-GPS-164 COM1 PPS output.
3.4.3.4.4 External GPS receiver interconnection. IPADS shall have an initialization
interface connector compatible with a DAGR-to-DAGR/PLGR Cable, as specified in IS-GPS-
164, or shall include an adapter cable compatible with the COM1 serial data and PPS output
interfaces on DAGR J2, as specified in IS-GPS-164.
3.4.3.4.5 Hot connect/disconnect. IPADS shall not be damaged or cause damage to the
interfacing GPS receiver and IPADS operation shall not be interrupted when the GPS
initialization interface is connected and disconnected while IPADS is operating. IPADS shall
automatically accept transfer of GPS initialization data when transfer is initiated by the GPS
receiver.
