MIL-PRF-52955D
3.3.1.1.1 Loss of GPS signals. Loss, intentional and unintentional jamming, and spoofing
of GPS signals shall not degrade IPADS performance outside of threshold requirements.
3.3.2 Geographic area of operation. IPADS shall operate as specified herein throughout the
latitude range of 75º South to 75º North (T), 80º South to 84º North (O.)
3.3.3 Local operational area. IPADS shall perform as specified herein when operated
within a circle of 75 Km (T), 100 Km (O) radius, minimum, centered on the initialization point
or subsequent update point.
3.3.4 Vehicle dynamics and attitudes. IPADS shall perform as specified herein when
operated within the following envelopes for vehicle dynamics and attitudes:
a. Horizontal velocity, ground speed: 0 to 150 knots, in any direction.
b. Vertical velocity: 0 to 2400 feet per minute.
c. Acceleration: 0 to 3g in any direction.
d. Angular velocity: 0 to 140º per second around any axis.
e. Pitch (longitudinal vehicle axis): -85º to +85º from the horizontal.
f. Roll (transverse vehicle axis): -180º to +180º from the horizontal.
3.3.4.1 Base motion while stationary. IPADS shall perform as specified herein when the
host vehicle, while nominally stationary, is subject to wind buffeting, normal crew movement,
engine vibration, vibration from engine/generator sets, and other sources of motion usually found
on the battlefield.
3.3.5 Initialization. Initialization time begins at IPADS power turn-on and ends when the
system is fully initialized and ready to start a survey.
3.3.5.1
Normal initialization.
3.3.5.1.1 Normal Initialization Time. While nominally stationary (3.3.4.1), IPADS
initialization time shall not exceed the values shown in Table I.
3.3.5.1.2 Initial coordinate accuracy. IPADS shall be capable of meeting the normal
initialization time requirements of 3.3.5.1.1 when provided initial coordinates accurate to 100
meters, horizontal, and 10 meters, vertical. IPADS shall meet the accuracy requirements of 3.3.7
after position has been updated at a Survey Control Point (SCP) and initialization is complete.
The SCP may be remote from the initialization site.
3.3.5.1.3 Initialization site. IPADS shall initialize and operate as specified herein when
moved to any location within the geographic area of operation regardless of where it was last
turned off. IPADS may be powered on before or after reaching the initialization site.
3.3.5.2 "Hot start" initialization. If not moved since the last shutdown, IPADS shall be
capable of being initialized, without requiring position data entry, within the "hot start"
initialization time specified in Table I. "Hot start" initialization time begins at IPADS power
turn-on and ends when the system is fully initialized and ready to start a survey.
